Most lawyers will brag about their qualifications and awards they have won. We could fill this page with our achievements (and bore you in the process) but we think qualifications and ability to do the job should be a given.
We therefore suggest you think about the following things in addition:
Personality
We think it is important that your family lawyer is somebody that you “click” with. We recognise that one size does not fit all. We have a large, friendly team who have a range of interests and personalities over and above being excellent at their job. Our profiles have been created using comment from third parties (including clients) which hopefully provides a more accurate reflection of who we are.
One thing we all share is a passion for approaching things in a way that will limit damage to families going through separation, and particularly limit the impact of separation upon any children that may be involved.
Out of hours contact
We do go the extra mile and are happy to accommodate out of hours meetings as we understand work and family commitments can sometimes cause logistical problems in getting into the office during business hours. We can also come to you if that is more convenient. We all have smartphones and are able to pick up messages when we are out of the office.
Highly ranked and specialist individuals
We are all genuine specialists in family law rather than general practitioners, as can be seen from our various accreditations. We all have many years of experience and offer a full range of dispute resolution options ranging from advice as to how to negotiate directly with your spouse, Collaborative Law, Family Law Arbitration and Litigation either in the Sheriff Court or Court of Session.
Location
We have convenient centrally based offices in both Edinburgh and Glasgow and carry out work across Scotland. If you can’t come to us we can facilitate Skype/ Facetime calls. We are also members of an international network of legal firms which means that if you are living or working abroad, you can pop into an office that is local to you.
Never too busy for you
We really do go the extra mile for our clients. Your case will be handled personally from start to finish and you will always have your calls returned and be kept informed. Our office is always manned during business hours by two dedicated paralegals who will know you and your case and be able to help you if your lawyer is in meetings or in court.
Every case is different but we understand that in every case, costs are a concern. We will always discuss costs with you at the outset and regularly throughout your case. We also provide a monthly statement or invoice along with an itemised breakdown of our charges. This is designed to give you complete transparency of the costs as the work is done.
Testimonials
The proof is in the pudding. Our clients and peers speak highly of us and you can see what they say on our testimonials page.
